Packing in her full time employment, Alex Osowski decided to follow her passion in design and a glorious company was born. We adore Alex and her positivity, her story is a great one for all those other young creative’s out there wanting to follow their dreams.
Alex has proved with dedication, passion, hard work and the willpower to do something better anything is possible. So we decided it was time to introduce you to the beautiful woman behind the brand.
How did you start in design?
Since then though I learnt how to master a hair tie and studied textiles, silversmithing, fine art and graphics at A-Level and completed a degree in Photographic Art in Wales!
In hindsight ridiculously silly move but luckily it paid off!
At my home in Hertfordshire!
I would love to say it’s a lovely studio space but as I’m trying to keep my overheads as low as possible, my workspace is my kitchen! Luckily with a large kitchen table (that hasn’t been used for food since the beginning of These Folk) I have plenty of space to sew, stitch and package to my heart’s content!
I was lucky enough to be part of a charity fashion show in Manchester on Saturday where my items appeared on a catwalk, it was nice for once to sit back and sip on a G&T whilst everyone else did the work! I’m so used to going to shows/markets etc and working my bum off!
I have been getting ideas together for my winter collection, I love nothing more than making mood boards!
I popped into one of my stockists in Hitchin to drop off some new stock - it’s a lovely vintage store and it takes a lot of strength not to buy everything when I go there!
I also picked up a lot of stock earlier this week so I’ve spent most of my spare time sewing, labelling and packaging them up!
Fox hunts, pheasants, filigree, deep reds, gold, forest greens and hints of tartan! All perfect for teaming up with chunky gold statement jewellery of course!
Katy Perry, always!
That’s a difficult one! Probably ‘Is it time for wine yet?’ I feel like it’s something I ask myself every day
